• The project is a joint venture between the Japanese Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Company and the Vietnam Import-Export Construction Corporation (Vinaconex).The VND 1.3 trillion (US$63.4 million) project includes a 576-metre access road, a flyover in Phu Thuong commune, a 675-metre ramp to the south of the bridge and the Phu Thuong intersection.The work is scheduled to be completed in 34 months.The project is funded by over VND 13.6 trillion (US$660.1 million) from Japanese official development assistance (ODA) and the Vietnamese Government.The 8.3-kilometre project includes a 1.5-kilometre cable-stayed bridge spanning the Red River. When completed, it will connect Hanoi’s city centre to northern provinces as well as neighbouring industrial zones and urban areas. It will also shorten the route from central Hanoi to Noi Bai International Airport.
